Power IntergraTIon (hereafter referred to as PI) introduced the LYTSwitch-6 series of safely isolated LED driver ICs, adding new options for smart lighting applications.
The LYTSwitch family of highly integrated LED driver ICs offers a 70% reduction in component count compared to discrete solutions, resulting in significant advantages in the design and manufacture of LED drivers. LED drivers with LYTSwitch ICs are smaller, lighter, and more compatible than comparable power supplies. In addition, whether in isolated or non-isolated topologies, LYTSwitch devices offer the low THD required by today's lighting market to easily handle tough output voltage challenges. LYTSwitch products feature dimming for excellent compatibility and dimming range.
The new IC offers 65 W flicker-free output with up to 94% efficiency and standby power as low as 15 mW, while providing configuration options that support two-stage or single-stage PFC. Designed for home and commercial lighting and thin ceiling fluted lamp applications, the LYTSwitch-6? IC's fast dynamic response provides excellent cross regulation for parallel LED string applications, eliminating the need for an additional secondary voltage regulator. It is also easy to connect to a pulse width modulation (PWM) dimming interface. The LYTSwitch-6 IC supports both constant voltage (CV) and constant current (CC) control, allowing lighting manufacturers to choose a solution for different design applications, resulting in savings in production and logistics. Advanced thermal foldback protection prevents the IC from overheating and provides illumination at any temperature and operating conditions while maintaining temperature rise.
The LYTSwitch-6 IC integrates a 650 V or 725 V MOSFET with secondary side FluxLink® control, providing better than 3% constant voltage and constant current regulation at all input voltages, loads and temperatures without optocoupler Precision. Thanks to synchronous rectification and quasi-resonant switching, the power conversion stage with flyback topology can exceed 94% efficiency, providing high power output without the use of heat sinks. For example, a 35 W (12 V/2.92 A) design with an external PFC circuit can be more than 89% efficient. The new device's standby power is always less than 15 mW under universal AC input conditions, even with input voltage detection circuitry, which allows the IC to provide self-protection during mains voltage surges and swells.
As shown, the LYTSwitch-6 series meets a wider range of power requirements.
The challenge of intelligent lightingPI Jinguang, senior technical training manager of PI, summed up the challenges facing smart lighting today:
As shown in the figure, intelligent lighting first requires low standby power consumption, and for some lighting devices with wireless control, it is necessary to ensure that the auxiliary power supply always works, and at least ensure the auxiliary voltage for the MCU to work; need to support analog and PWM dimming; It is necessary to support different modes of lamp beads to provide constant current or constant voltage output; in order to ensure that the beads do not affect each other during dimming, it is necessary to achieve stable output under dynamic load.
