SAN DIEGO, Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) subsidiary Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. announced the launch of its new LTE IoT Software Development Kit (SDK) for Qualcomm® MDM9206 LTE IoT Global Multimode Modem. The new LTE IoT SDK is designed to assist OEMs, application and solution developers, new entrants to the IoT industry and other non-traditional ecosystem participants by leveraging the application processor capabilities, connectivity, and integration of the MDM9206 LTE IoT modem. Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) functions interface with peripherals to create new cellular IoT applications, products and solutions that are currently being adopted by multiple IoT hardware modules from third-party vendors. Qualcomm Technologies' recently launched Wireless Edge service is being developed to help provide a range of reliable services for enterprise and IoT cloud service providers, and the new LTE IoT SDK is the key to Qualcomm Technologies' response to the IoT Part of the overall work.
The new LTE IoT SDK enables developers to run custom software on a 1.3 GHz Cortex A7 CPU integrated with the MDM9206 LTE IoT modem and enables developers to use Qualcomm Technologies' extensive software and tools suite to support the implementation of the MDM9206. Some additional features of the LTE IoT modem, such as GNSS. The CPU integrated in the MDM9206 LTE IoT modem also helps eliminate the need for external microcontrollers, helping to reduce costs, increase battery life and terminal security.
The MDM9206 LTE IoT modem is pre-integrated with support for multiple cloud platforms, including Alibaba Cloud Link IoT Suite, China Mobile OneNET, Deep Cloud DTCloud, Ericsson IoT Accelerator, Wisdom Cloud and Verizon ThingSpace. The LTE IoT SDK is designed to help developers further extend existing support and develop support for other major IoT cloud service providers. By using the hardware modules of the MDM9206 LTE IoT modem and the new LTE IoT SDK, OEMs and developers will be able to cope with a large number of existing and emerging cellular connectivity-based commercial IoT and industrial IoT use cases, such as smart meters, smart Gateway and asset tracking, etc.
Serge Willenegger, senior vice president and general manager of 4G/5G and Industrial IoT Business at Qualcomm Wireless GmbH, said: "As a leader in wireless technology, Qualcomm Technologies is pleased to offer solutions to help accelerate the development of the global Internet of Things. This LTE IoT SDK A new element of Qualcomm Technologies' wireless edge solutions, combined with module products based on our MDM9206 LTE IoT chipset, will help OEMs and developers quickly build and commercialize a wide range of products in a cost-effective manner. Exciting innovative IoT applications."
The MDM9206 LTE IoT Modem is a solution designed to support global multimode capabilities, supporting eMTC (Cat M1), NB-IoT (Cat NB-1), and 2G/E-GPRS. The MDM9206 LTE IoT modem, in conjunction with the new LTE IoT SDK, facilitates the development of cost-effective, low-power terminals that support years of battery life and enable broader coverage than traditional LTE. To date, nearly 90 designs are using the global multimode MDM9206 LTE IoT modem, supporting LTE Cat M1 and NB1.
