TI pushes SimpleLink low-power Bluetooth automotive application CC2541-Q1

TI has introduced the SimpleLinkTM low-power Bluetooth product CC2541-Q1, a highly integrated wireless microcontroller (MCU). Targeted at emerging automotive markets with smart Bluetooth technology, the new automotive-based features of Smart Bluetooth technology make it easier for consumers to access information and control automotive systems. New features include:

Smartphone Control App:

− Keyless entry, using a Bluetooth Smart Ready smartphone or smart Bluetooth keychain (either standalone or in conjunction with TI's leading automotive access solution)

− Lighting controller for environment, clustering and programmable LED lighting

− Diagnostic information to help users understand engine warning lights

− Services using iBeacon technology for fast discovery and easy pairing via in-vehicle smart Bluetooth technology

Replacing some in-car wired applications, you can reduce weight and reduce costs in the following devices or systems to improve fuel economy:

− Wireless infotainment controller in the steering wheel

− Low data rate system for control, personalization and alerting via smartphone

− Smart Bluetooth remote control for rear seat entertainment system

The SimpleLink CC2541-Q1 is a complete solution with TI's BLE-StackTM software and sample applications (including over-the-air downloads that support field updates).
