There are five common forms of load, and the power capacity of the drive should be selected based on load capacity and type. However, considering the grid voltage fluctuations, inrush current and short-term overload, we should maintain an appropriate margin in the power capacity selection of the inverter. Here are some suggestions for the drive selection:
1, resistive load
Power capacity = 1.1 times load power capacity.
2, RC load
Power capacity = 1.1 times the load apparent power capacity.
3, motor load
The motor starting current is approximately 5-7 times the rated current in the case of a hard start (direct start), and the starting time is usually within 2 seconds. The inverter overload capability is typically 200% in a few milliseconds before triggering overload protection. Therefore, considering the starting capacity, it is recommended to select the power supply capacity of the inverter is 6 times higher than the motor capacity. If the motor starts very hard, it means that the rated current of the inverter should be higher than the load starting current. Otherwise, you'd better install a soft start or variable frequency drive motor.
4, rectifier load
The input circuit includes a rectifier diode (or thyristor) and a filter capacitor. If the input circuit does not have a soft-start device, the load can be considered a short-circuit when the input switch is closed, which will generate a large inrush current that triggers the inverter overcurrent protection. If the surge current is frequently started, the load circuit will also be affected. Therefore, the rectifier load input circuit should take a soft start to limit the startup current.
5. Since the rectifier load current is pulse current, the current crest factor can be as high as 3 to 3.5 times, so the output voltage waveform is affected for a long time, and the influence depends on the load current crest factor. Under normal circumstances, when the current crest factor is 2:00, please select the power capacity of the inverter according to the following formula: power capacity = load current crest factor / 2 times load apparent power.
6, regenerative load
Such as reversible motor, variable speed motor load, high back electromotive force during motor reversal, easy to damage the inverter, please specify such load before ordering the inverter.
7, mixed load
Consider the ratio of each load power capacity to select the appropriate frequency converter.
