What is a 4-channel optical module?

2 : Transmission data rate up to 26Gbps per second

This is easy to understand. The transmission rate of the 100G QSFP28 optical module is 100G, and the optical module transmits using a 4-channel optical fiber, so the transmission data rate can reach up to 26Gbps per second.

3 : CDR circuit built in the receiving end and transmitting channel

This is about the structure of the optical module.

The optical module is composed of an optoelectronic device, a functional circuit, an optical interface, and the like, and the optoelectronic device includes two parts, a transmitting and receiving device.

The transmitting part is: an electric signal inputting a certain code rate is processed by an internal driving chip to drive a semiconductor laser (LD) or a light emitting diode (LED) to emit a modulated light signal of a corresponding rate, and an optical power automatic control circuit is internally provided therein. The output optical signal power remains stable.

The receiving part is: the optical signal input module of a certain code rate is converted into an electrical signal by the photodetecting diode. After the preamplifier, the electrical signal of the corresponding code rate is output.

The power consumption of modules with different model parameters is different. 100G is different from package, generally 3.5-9w. So the power consumption of this 100G QSFP28 optical module is < 3.5W, which is a good aspect.
