On September 6, China Unicom and BMW Group signed the "BMW Connected Driving Next Generation Mobile Communication Business Cooperation Agreement" in Beijing. According to the agreement, China Unicom will rely on its strong operating capabilities and advanced service concepts to provide BMW owners with connected driving services based on next-generation network communication technology. The signing of this agreement indicates that the cooperation between the two parties in the Internet of Vehicles business will continue until 2025. The cooperation between China Unicom and BMW in the field of Internet of Vehicles originated in 2012. The cooperation areas cover 3G/4G mobile communication networks, platform services, call centers, online stores and other operation-related services. As a specialized subsidiary of China Unicom, Unicom Zhiwang Technology focuses on the fields of intelligent networking and automobile informatization, and has provided BMW with connected driving related services for 6 years. In this cooperation, the two parties plan to set up a joint laboratory to conduct in-depth research on 5G mobile communication technology, eUICC, V2X and other cutting-edge technology fields, and combine advantageous resources to explore autonomous driving related services, and use big data technology to explore innovative service models . In the field of Internet of Vehicles where China Unicom occupies a dominant position and has a market share of more than 70%, China Unicom will continue to cultivate an open environment of resources and capabilities to empower automakers and support the rapid development of the industry.
