How to configure an Ethernet switch

The serial port is connected to the console port of the Ethernet switch through a configuration cable.
1. Build a configuration environment through the console port To establish a local configuration environment, just connect the serial port of the computer (or terminal) to the console port of the Ethernet switch through the configuration cable.
(2) Run a terminal emulation program (Super Terminal for Windows 9x, etc.) on the computer, set the terminal communication parameters to baud rate 9600bps, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no check and no flow control, and select the terminal The type is VT100. As shown in Figure 2-2 to Figure 2-4.

(3) Power on the Ethernet switch, and the self-test information of the Ethernet switch is displayed on the terminal. After the self-test, the user is prompted to type Enter, and then a command prompt will appear (such as ).
(4) Type the command to configure the Ethernet switch or view the operating status of the Ethernet switch. You can type "?" At any time if you need help.
2. Set up the configuration environment through Telnet. If the user has correctly configured the IP address of the Ethernet switch management VLAN interface through the console port (use the ip address command in VLAN interface view E), and the Ethernet port connected to the terminal This management VLAN (use the port command in VLAN view E), you can use Telnet to log in to the Ethernet switch, and then configure the Ethernet switch.
(1) Before logging in to the Ethernet switch through Telnet, you need to configure the Telnet user name and authentication password on the switch through the console port.
Note: When Telnet users log in, password authentication is required by default. If Telnet login is configured without a password, the system will prompt "password required, but none set.". Use the following command to configure the user login password.
system-view

[Quidway] user-interface vty 0
[Quidway-ui-vty0] set authenTIcaTIon password simple xxxx (xxxx is the Telnet user login password to be set)
(2) To establish the configuration environment, just connect the Ethernet port of the computer to the Ethernet port of the Ethernet switch through the local area network.

(3) Run the Telnet program on the microcomputer and enter the IP address of the VLAN to which the Ethernet port connected to the microcomputer belongs. As shown in Figure 2-6.

Figure 2-6
(4) Display User Access VerificaTIon on the terminal and prompt the user to enter the login password that has been set. After the password is entered correctly, a command line prompt appears (such as ).
(5) Use the corresponding commands to configure the Ethernet switch or view the operating status of the Ethernet switch. You can type "?" At any time if you need help.
Description:
a. When configuring the switch with elnet, do not delete or modify the IP address of the VLAN interface on the switch that corresponds to this Telnet connection. Otherwise, the Telnet connection will be disconnected.
