12/24V vehicle and 48V board-level grid-powered automotive applications and industrial applications of 24V to 60V power supply
German elmos company recently announced the launch of a 72V three-phase half-bridge driver E523.50 for brushless DC (BLDC) motors. The product is used in 12/24V vehicles and 48V board-level grid-powered automotive applications and 24V to 60V power supplies. For industrial applications, the IC meets the requirements of AEC-Q100 level 0 (150°C).
The digital RUN pin and six digital inputs control three full-bridge gate drivers (three high-side and three low-side gate drivers). The IC can be configured as six direct control inputs or three enable and three PWM (pulse width modulation) inputs. For the latter configuration, the dead time can be automatically generated or set using an external resistor.
The device integrates a DC/DC step-down converter, which can provide a 100mA drive and other load drives for a gate voltage of 11V. The internal 3.3V control unit can provide up to 20mA for the microcontroller. It can drive external high-voltage and high-power transistors to achieve higher load requirements.
The features of the device also include comprehensive diagnosis and protection functions. Two error outputs show any over current, low voltage and excessive temperature rise. QFN's bottom plate metal pad package structure makes it have excellent heat transfer performance, so that the maximum operating junction temperature of the chip can even reach the limit of 170°C.
