LG Electronics is about to launch a 15-inch OLED technology TV

According to Reuters, LG Electronics said on Sunday (August 30) that it will launch a 15-inch TV with OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) technology next month, which will be the largest model for commercialization to date.

Compared with LCD TVs, OLED TVs have the advantages of large viewing angle, high contrast, and higher luminous efficiency. However, large-size OLED TVs have been limited by technology and technology, and have not been able to achieve mass production. However, with the continuous advancement of technology, OLED TVs continue to grow in size.

AM-OLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) display technology uses self-luminous materials to greatly improve image quality. Compared with LCDs (liquid crystal displays) that require backlight components, AM-OLEDs use less power and have a higher thickness. Due to the high price, AM-OLED is difficult to become a mass product technology in the market under the monopoly of low-priced LCD panels. Currently, this technology is being used in high-end mobile phones, but the cost of application on PCs and TVs is still Relatively high.

At the end of 2007, Sony launched the world's first OLED TV, but has not released follow-up models since then. LG Electronics said it will showcase 15-inch AM-OLED TVs at the "IFA Berlin Consumer Electronics Show" in September, and will invest in South Korea and other cities in November and next year.

Market research company Display Search expects that OLED TV sales will reach 2.33 million units in 2010. LG Electronics expects that OLED TV sales will reach 320,000 units in 2011, and said: "We plan to show 40-inch OLED products in the near future."
