Molex Incorporated announced that in view of the development of the connector system to provide electrical connection for the Dow Chemical Company POWERHOUSE â„¢ solar roof panel, which won the 2014 Chicago Innovation Award. The Molex Interconnect System has helped Dow offer breakthrough new solar roof solutions to many residential consumers across the United States and Canada. This award is the third such award that Molex has won in the past six years, and was announced last night at a ceremony at the Harris Theatre in Chicago.
Jeff Gaumer Molex's new product development manager, said: "As co-design and Dow Chemical undertaken to obtain a Chicago Innovation Award, we feel very honored to Molex, our innovative platform to showcase a variety of ways, and one. The most important thing is to show through the success of the customer. For the POWERHOUSE solar roof panel, our partnership with Dow is a good example of the results that can be achieved by customer collaboration and can change the market conditions. "
The POWERHOUSE solar roof panel is also used as a roofing solution and clean renewable energy, designed to be used directly on the surface of a standard asphalt roof and fixed to it, while integrated photovoltaic (PV) cells convert sunlight For electric energy. The interconnect system from Molex consists of three products that connect the roof panels together and form the circuit: the connectors are molded directly on each solar roof panel, and the cells are inserted into the plugs to connect to the roof panels of each row. The harness connects each row of roof panels together and connects the entire system to the inverter.
The complete solar roof system includes Molex interconnect products that meet the stringent requirements of Dow:
· High durability: It can withstand the worst weather conditions including hail, heavy rain, wind, snow and ice.
· Easy installation: Like the traditional roof panel, it can be directly attached to the roof panel, while the plug-in Molex panel can be connected by snapping.
· Excellent aesthetics: integrated with the rest of the roof of the home, with less impact on the appearance of the frame-mounted solar panels.
Gaumer added: "The Dow POWERHOUSE roof panel concept is instructive, but there are significant technical challenges. This product requires a new electrical interconnection system to meet extremely specific design requirements and to maintain High cost performance. We are able to use our in-depth technical knowledge to develop solutions that exceed Dow's expectations, and we are very pleased to be part of the team to bring this revolutionary product to market."
