Thinking behind "lighting"--urban light pollution

Ambilight, neon flashing, it seems to be in the Las Vegas never sleeps on the other side of the ocean. In the famous scenic city, the face of the city has not yet been seen clearly. In the sea of light, it has been dazzled.

In recent years, the construction of night lighting in domestic cities has been in full swing. The city is brighter, the night is more beautiful, and the nightlife of urban people is more abundant. Watching the night scene has become a casual fashion for the citizens and tourists.
The lamp is one of the greatest inventions of mankind. It is the messenger of light, bringing beauty and surprise to mankind. It is lighting up our lives and beautifying our city.

However, behind the lighting projects that are brightly lit and documenting the great achievements of mankind, when the lights are on the bright streets, the reporter thinks more, it is a huge worry hidden under the charming lights.

Lighting: "Light up" is still a little bit

In recent years, from south to north, from east to west, countless cities across the country have started lighting projects.

The lighting project makes the night of the city much more beautiful than in the past. However, light pollution has been ignored by these "halo". In the cities that are in the development stage, there are widespread misunderstandings in the construction process that are “more and more bright” and “you are brighter than me, I am brighter than you”.

“Light up” is a slogan that can often be heard on TV media, often showing the determination of government departments to beautify the city. However, in many places, like the square winds of previous years, “light up” still has to be a little bit. Especially in areas where the economy is still underdeveloped, it is necessary to be cautious in lighting projects.

Some people think that the first thing to do is to start from the project itself and really achieve the light. First, we must have sufficient power supply, and second, we must have sufficient financial resources. As is known to all, China is still a country with a tight supply of electricity. During the peak period of electricity consumption, it has to adopt measures to limit the use of industrial electricity to ensure the daily needs of residents. Even so, some places have to adopt a method of district power cuts. It is still difficult to adjust the economy and squeeze out electricity to "light up".

Noise pollution sources are ignored

Recently, some media pointed out that in addition to the three major public hazards that directly affect human health and survival, water pollution, air pollution and electromagnetic pollution have become the fourth largest source of pollution.

Light pollution refers to phenomena such as spilled light, reflected light and glare caused by modern urban buildings and nighttime illumination, which cause interference or negative impact on people, animals and plants.

While light pollution is harmful to human health, it also affects the growth and reproduction of animals and plants, causing a large number of urban insects to die and the ecological balance is destroyed.

Light pollution mainly comes from various over-quantity and uncoordinated light radiation caused by sunlight, light and various reflected and refracted light sources in human living environment. People in the long-term environment of light pollution, there will be symptoms of neurasthenia such as dizziness, insomnia, normal biological clocks are disturbed, and the brain's central nervous system will be affected. The first damage to the human body in light pollution is the direct contact with the eyes and skin of the light source. Light pollution can cause visual fatigue and visual acuity to drop sharply, accelerate the formation of cataracts; strong light pollution can also induce skin cancer.

Light pollution is generally divided into three categories, namely white light pollution, artificial chalk and color light pollution.

White light pollution means that when the sun shines strongly, the glass curtain wall, glazed brick wall, polished marble and various paints of the buildings in the city reflect the light, which is bright and dazzling. Experts have found that people who work and live in a white light and polluted environment for a long time, the retina and the iris will be damaged to varying degrees, the visual acuity drops sharply, and the incidence of cataract is as high as 45%.

Artificial daylight means that after nightfall, the commercial lights and neon lights on the hotel are dazzling and dazzling. Some strong beams even go straight into the sky, making the night like the daytime, the so-called artificial daylight. In such a "no-night city", it is difficult to fall asleep at night, disturbing the normal biological clock of the human body, resulting in inefficient work during the day. Artificial daylight can also damage birds and insects, and glare can destroy the normal reproduction of insects at night.

Black light, rotating lights, fluorescent lights and flashing colored light sources installed in dance halls and nightclubs constitute color light pollution. It has been determined that the intensity of the ultraviolet light generated by the black light is greatly brighter than the ultraviolet light in the sunlight, and the harmful effects on the human body last for a long time.

Since the light pollution hazard is potential, it is determined that there is no defined standard, so it has not been able to attract the full attention of the society. At the same time, light pollution is difficult to eliminate or mitigate by decomposition, transformation and dilution like other environmental pollution. Therefore, prevention and control should be based on prevention.

Lighting design is actually a lot of research. Night lighting does not make the place brighter and better, and there should be a unified scientific plan from the overall environment. The bright place is lit up, it is bright, too bright, and people lose their quiet space.
