Methods and steps

1, preparation work

(1) The emulsified asphalt sample was filtered through a 1.18 mm aperture sieve and placed in a container.

(2) The electrode plate was washed, dried, and the two electrode plates were fixed in parallel on a frame with a pitch of about 30 mm, and then the frame was placed in a clean beaker having a volume of 1000 ml and inserted into an emulsified asphalt of about 30 mm.

2, the test steps

(1) The filtered emulsion sample was poured into a beaker containing an electrode plate, and the height of the liquid surface was at least about 3 cm immersed in the tip end of the electrode plate.

(2) Connect the leads of the two electrode plates to the positive and negative poles of the 6V DC power supply, turn on the power switch and press the stopwatch.

(3) After the current is turned on for 3 minutes, the switch is turned off, and then the frame to which the electrode plate is fixed is taken out from the beaker.

(4) Carefully observe the electrode plate. If a large amount of asphalt particles are adsorbed on the negative plate, indicating that the asphalt particles have a positive charge, the emulsion is cationic. On the contrary, a large amount of asphalt particles are adsorbed on the anode plate, indicating that the asphalt particles are negatively charged, and the emulsion is anionic.

Instructions

Turn on the power, set the time to "3 minutes", press the "Start" switch, and automatically power off after three minutes. To continue the next test, press “Reset” once to enter the next working state. If you terminate the work and press "Start" again, the whole process ends.
