IIC-China Automotive Electronics Seminar delivers new trends in technology market
The automobile industry occupies an extremely important position in the industrial development of Chengdu. It is not only the first industrial cluster in Chengdu that is expected to reach the goal of 100 billion yuan, but also one of the four key industries in Chengdu. In such an industrial environment, IIC-China's technical seminars have naturally become an excellent platform for local system manufacturers and engineers to understand cutting-edge technologies and market trends. The wonderful lectures from NXP and Microchip attracted many audiences.
Innovative technology enhances driving experience
With the rapid development of China's automobile market, the safety and comfort of automobiles have increasingly become the focus of attention. NXP ’s technical seminars brought the company ’s innovative solutions to enhance vehicle safety and comfort, including anti-theft and entry, in-vehicle networks, sensors, and in-vehicle information processing.
Telematics (TelemaTIcs) is an important development trend of automotive electronic technology applications. "In the not-too-distant future, in-vehicle telematics systems will be rapidly popularized, and related services such as emergency calls and road tolls will be widely deployed in large cities." Xu Zhibin, senior product engineer of NXP Semiconductors' Automotive Safety and Comfort Department, currently has some TelemaTIcs-like systems have been installed on taxis, buses and logistics fleets in cities to facilitate dispatching, monitoring and navigation.

NXP ’s TelemaTIcs solution ATOP is the world ’s first single-device on-board unit that supports applications such as intelligent traffic management, stolen vehicle tracking, paid-for-driving applications, car black boxes and advanced driver assistance systems. According to Xu Zhibin, in June 2009, NXP and IBM launched the road toll system in the Netherlands. The single-device on-board unit jointly developed by NXP and CPS Europe is equipped with NXP ’s ATOP chip, which contains a GPS receiver. Under the premise of protecting privacy, the vehicle location is determined through wireless communication, and the vehicle location is continuously sent to a set of IBM computing system through the mobile GPRS network. The advanced background management system can calculate driving routes and cost data. In September 2010, the car emergency call system (eCall) will become an optional feature for new cars in the European Union.

In addition, Xu Zhibin also highlighted NXP's key innovations in CAN-LIN transceivers. Take NXP's latest second-generation in-vehicle network CAN / LIN SBC-UJA107x product series as an example. This product optimizes performance, power consumption, and electronic control unit (ECU) cost, benefiting body control modules and in-vehicle temperature. Control, seat control, electric power steering (EPS), adaptive lighting, rain / light intensity sensors, parking assist and transmission modules, and many other in-vehicle applications.
SBC adopts NXP CAN / LIN transceiver, and also has an on-board microcontroller and peripheral expandable voltage regulator, so that this series of products can provide a high degree of integration, excellent performance and scalability. According to Xu Zhibin, a senior product engineer at the company, the UJA107x SBC series combines high-level ESD protection and outstanding EMC performance, fully satisfying the OEM's stringent reliability requirements. At the same time, the extremely low standby and quiescent current are conducive to saving fuel and reducing CO2 emissions.
The number of ECUs currently installed in new models has exceeded 50, which makes OEMs urgently need small, compact, cost-effective and long-term reliable solutions. "UJA107x series products meet the key needs of major first-tier suppliers with their high stability and flexibility, and can help vehicle manufacturers improve the comfort and safety of in-vehicle applications." Xu Zhibin said.
