A few days ago, the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs officially announced two Taiwan standards, including CNS 9118 [Road Lighting] and CNS 15233 [LED Road Lighting], which were revised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
The Standards Inspection Bureau pointed out that CNS 9118 is suitable for road lighting fixtures for discharge light sources (high-pressure gas lamps and complex metal lamps, etc.). In addition to incorporating new light sources (inductive fluorescent lamps), the safety test will be carried out. The orientation is consistent with the international standard IEC 60598-2-3. In addition to the development of new light sources, the safety and quality of road lighting fixtures will be brought to an international level.
CNS 15233 is suitable for road lighting with LED as the light source. This revision focuses on the differentiation of light color (color temperature) and the improvement of test methods. In terms of light color, in addition to the revised color temperature measurement method, the color temperature difference is simplified into three categories (high color temperature, medium color temperature and low color temperature) to facilitate the purchase unit selection. Since the CNS 15233 has a total test time of 6 months (4000 hours), and the LED module's luminous efficiency is improved rapidly, especially in the new version of the standard, the "series type" method is adopted, and the new type of lamp is equipped with a LED module with higher luminous efficiency. The test time can be shortened to a quarter (1000 hours), and the excellent products will be able to seize the business opportunities in the morning market, so that product quality and industrial development can be balanced.
