Beginning in mid-2011, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) required all bulbs to be labeled with new labels to help consumers pick the right product for the market.
The US Federal Trade Commission has drafted the latest bulb light output label in November 2009 and stated that the new regulations will take effect in about a year.
This is the first time that the brightness (luminous flux) of a luminaire has been revised on the package side label of the product, not the power of the luminaire.
